Oh yes! Thanks for joining us. Happy Monday. I hope you are tremendous. I have like 18 screens in front of me now, so I’m navigating everything. I’m trying to be a professional around here.
Got like 10 different screens going on. My my wife over the weekend bought me a um another laptop, so I’ve got like five screens going on at the same time so I can see all the chats and everything.
Think she felt bad that she left me with the uh six teenage girls which I still haven’t recovered from. You can see in my eyes. Very tired. Uh did not know that the six teenage girls would stay up until 4:30 and then wake up at 7:30, but as I told you on Friday or Saturday, they all start to run together.
Uh that is no excuse. I will not uh I will not um put back my uh responsibilities to you the sweet clean listener, viewer and the such because we have a ton with the
Super Bowl and comping the 49ers and the Warriors and the Holmes and and referees and upset and Bills and all all these sort of things. Plus Robert Saleh is officially official, so we just have a ton. So we’ll do the teenager update a little bit later on in the show. If you’re new, you’re like teenager update, what is wrong with you creepy guy?
Uh I’ll explain and it will make sense and hopefully you won’t think I am creepy, but uh thank you, thank you, thank you. We will uh do the roll call and welcome everybody on a Monday. Thank you mate for uh making the time. You know there’s a lot of decisions out there, especially for your 49ers and NFL news and I think I have a an above average show for you today as well.
If you are new uh and if you are not, there is your chalkboard off to the right that says episode 42. So Saleh is officially official. Why the 49ers are absolutely positively better and not only did I do
a um a show on it or like a 10 minute story of the day on Saturday, but I wrote a piece that I think you should check out as well and I think it will give you optimism despite the fact as I put on the cover today and this is not something I want to make this clear because everybody’s running with this. Um Christian McCaffrey did not say that I hope both teams lose
uh last night or after the game. This was a few years ago when Kansas City and Philly were in the Super Bowl after of course the whole Brock thing and the NFC Championship game debacle in Philadelphia and then he was on uh radio row. We were actually there standing there. Um he was actually there on with uh with NFL Network and he said when it came to Philadelphia and Kansas City, I hope both teams lose. So we’ll revisit that today and that’s why it is today’s cover. So Kansas City, Philadelphia, Patrick Mahomes, we have to admit it, the Chiefs
if you’re angry about it, it’s kind of what the rest of the NBA felt about the Warriors at the time. The Bills, the 49ers can fill the Bills team and fans uh pains. We’ll get into that. New Orleans which I I just I can’t say enough good things as a Super Bowl city
about New Orleans. I’ve been about everywhere covered about every Super Bowl radio row-ish uh around and I think that uh New Orleans is by far the best. Random means if you’re new here that we just get into random stuff because what people do is they go on the uh chat line and start trying to get me off my game, which is quite easy to do. Teenager update just because there’s so much I might lead with teenager update if it was like Tuesday or Wednesday or Thursday, but there’s so much to get to that I’ll save that for a little bit later. But like I said, you can just see by the
lack of sleep in my eyes that it was um much more challenging than I ever could have imagined. So we’ll get into that as well and a sweet clean family friendly caboose pistol. Well, that was weird how I said that, but you get the idea. You get the drift on this whole thing. We are here 8 a.m. Monday through Friday. Kind of like this and then we’ll get into things like Saturday for example, story of the day and let me pop this up. I forgot I just popped it up and I assumed you knew. Uh let me just present the sharing of the screen. I forgot I got to do all this stuff. But uh there you go.
That is Saturday’s story of the day as you can see right there. So there’s a little video right there that I did and then uh after I said subscribe, there is the reasons why the 49ers will be better next year. Saleh officially back, officially official. Easiest schedule in the NFL. I’m just browsing this quickly and you can go to it after the show of course.
Uh picks will be better from 2024. 2025 draft capital which they have a ton of. The offense returns. McCaffrey, they still got to get that offensive line fixed. Not so special teams still fixed. And then as I say at the bottom there, the anticipated improvements. This is the only paragraph I’ll read here. This is purely based on the sports gods who don’t generally give you the type of season the 49ers endured in 2024, two seasons in a row. I’ve already mentioned at the top of the piece about the hold outs, hold ins, injuries, personal issues, general stench in the 2024 49ers season and air. Those things tend to even out season to season. No science, no analytics, it’s just how sports goes, especially for an organization as solid as the 49ers. So
that’s how I ended things as I zipped through and to hurt your eyes there. That’s the story of the day which still is um is relevant this day even though I wrote it on Saturday. So again, that’s part of the website there, johnlundunleashed.com and you can check that out. So we update that thing every single day and make sure that uh that uh everything’s good to go. Which is I I want to have a I don’t know, stress-free just uh no hate in here. Um we there’s enough going on in the country. I’m not going to get on a on a soapbox. I’m not political or anything like that. I just think we should have fun. It’s sports. We don’t have to get too pissed off. I know we have passion about it, but
no hate in the room and I think we’ve done a really nice job of that. Everybody seems to get along and because we have different sports opinions or different teams or whatever, doesn’t mean we have to get pissed off. I like different opinions. I think everybody is great here and it’s been really great. So as we continue to do this, hopefully we can continue to send that message because that’s really the only rule around here. throughout the show, but I always like to acknowledge that everybody is here today and happy Monday, no matter how you are watching or listening. All right, let’s get to uh everything. Uh let’s do quickly I just want to go Saleh officially official and then we can move on to a lot of Super Bowl discussions. Officially official and this is what I got on my or in my
email box on Saturday morning. No insiders, no need. Uh there you go. News release was in my box on Saturday. Robert Saleh officially and you can see the right there, Saleh, Saleh. So make sure that you’re saying it correctly. Christian McCaffrey, 45 years old returns to the 49ers, blah blah blah. You know all the officials, but if anybody says, I don’t know if he signed his contract, kind of like what happened with Liam Cohen in Tampa Bay, the 49ers will not release anything unless pen is to paper. So pen is been put to paper
and there is no maybe what if if New Orleans which is the only jobs still available were to come after him, not happening. They the 49ers do not release before pen is to paper. So that is officially official and as I said uh when I when I showed you this ever so briefly in terms of the story of the day why they’ll be back.
And look, will all of this happen? No. But if you go and read the piece, Saleh being back, the easiest schedule in the NFL, it’s a 415 winning percentage and if you have season tickets, I really feel bad for you because if you go back and you look at that, there is one, count them, one playoff team on the 49ers home schedule from 2024 and that is the Rams.
And I nothing against the Rams. It’s just if the 49ers are healthy. I think the 49ers are probably better than the Rams or certainly comparable with the Rams. However you want to do it. I’m not a homer. It’s just how I see it. So uh I’m not saying the Rams aren’t a good team. They won the division, but the 49ers have had their share of success against the Rams especially in the regular season. Other than that,
there is no 2024 playoff teams coming to Levi’s Stadium. So if you have season tickets, that sucks. I was talking to a friend of mine on Saturday who has season tickets and what he usually does is sells a couple of the better games which will self which will pretty much cover his season tickets and then he gets to go to playoff games and I’ll add of course no playoff games this year.
But uh he’s like, yeah, it’s great that they’re going to win all those games, but not great for my season tickets. So that’s what happens when you have a last place schedule. So that is good news for the 49ers. So Saleh, the schedule, the 2024 draft picks which were great if you go back, but uh in looking at that, I think they’re even going to be better.
2025 draft capital. Not only do they have the 11th overall pick, but with comp picks, they’re going to have 10 selections. They’ll be able to move up and down and so that’s good. The offense as we know, Christian McCaffrey’s coming back, Ayuks coming back. They do have to fix especially I think left guard and center. Uh they can’t be worse in special teams, can they? And then I talked to you about anticipated improvement. So there’s some of the things I wrote about this weekend where I think it is definite that the 49ers will be a better team especially with just average health. So that’s the 49ers situation.
In terms of the Super Bowl itself, let me just play this this CMC thing since it’s going to be I think around here kind of a um talked about and played over and over and over. So just so that you know where this comes from. So when Philly and Kansas City a few years ago obviously played in the Super Bowl, Christian McCaffrey was right there on radio row and we had him on that year and everything and
he’s on with um NFL Network and our good friend Andrew Siciliano and to say on asked him about and remember this is just fresh off the loss in Philly and Brock gets hurt and all that kind of stuff. And so clearly CMC, you know, he’s a little bit bitter and so this is where he said the famous quote that it’s that is all over the place now. I hope both teams lose. This is Philly and Kansas City, but this is a few years ago on radio row at the Super Bowl.
The Chiefs are going to expose the Eagles defensively. Something that he thought you guys could have and should have done if everyone had stayed healthy. Do you agree with him? You know, I I hope both teams lose. Uh I I to me it’s uh it’s it doesn’t matter. Um obviously I wish I was we wish we were playing so bad. Uh that game still hurts and it will for a while. Um but I think Nick
Yeah, we didn’t need to play the rest of it. His famous quote which will go around and around and around and people go, did he just say that? No, he said that a while ago. But anyway, I hope both teams lose and I’ll ask you this. I’ll may I’ll pose the question to you because
you probably saw thought the same thing as I was watching that game or watching both those games actually and got to give Philly credit. Would they have six rushing touchdowns? Saquon Barkley especially that first run from scrimmage. It was very Christian McCaffrey like and we’re going to comp today the Eagles from this year and the 49ers of last year and so I look I think it’s going to be a good Super Bowl. It’s just of the two NFC teams, I would rather have had Washington although I thought Philly was going to win the game and you saw early on Philly had
